I held auctions on The Chip Board to help members who had been victims of Hurricane Katrina. ALL of the money from those auctions & other donations ($3,060) went to members, Sue Wells & Brad Keller. I consulted with President Mike Skelton on who might be in need of the money raised. Mike also set up an account to hold the money while it was being raised.
Here is a list of the auctions & how much money was raised from each.
Auction I - Won by Stu "The Count" Lovett (R-4603) for $700
Auction II - Won by Mitch Heller (LM-2038-107) for $200
Auction III - Won by Fred Hempel (R-6173) for $250
Auction IV - Won by Debby Meister (R-5891) for $150
Auction V - Won by David Spragg (R-6180) for $200
Auction VI - Won by Steve Palumbo (R-6711) for $150

Every winner of the 6 auctions received a chip designed by Debby Meister! In addition, another 7 were auctioned off for $100 each. The chip is shown below. As indicated on the chip, only 20 were made. Debby was nice enough to give Mike Skelton & myself a chip & she kept one for herself. Another chip will be auctioned off as part of a future Building Fund auction. And one will be used in a 2006 Convention Building Fund promotion. The last two went one each to Sue Wells & Brad Keller.
A big THANK YOU goes out to Debby for designing the chip & having them made.
In addition...Ron Lammer also designed a chip shown below. One went to each winner of the 6 auctions. Ron also auctioned off 3 additional chips for $60 each.
A big THANK YOU goes out to Ron!
Members who were sent a check so far are listed below...
Sue Wells (R-1679)
($200 check mailed on Tuesday, September 13th)
($1,330 check mailed on Friday, November 18th)
Everyone in Sue's house survived by swimming through the garage window and getting into their boat. They were then evacuated to her daughter's house in Mandeville, LA. Her house withstood the hurricane, but it was totally flooded.
Brad Keller (R-5126)

Below are two pictures of Brad's house after Hurricane Katrina hit. And a third showing some of his chip collection that he was able to find.
